RICS event - 13 september 2025 - New 2025 Red Book Global Standards
On November 13, RICS Belgium organized a conference dedicated to the new Red Book Global Standards, which came into effect on January 31. Filip Derijck MRICS, Edouard de Callatay, and Michel de Meester participated on behalf of the Knight Frank valuation team.
The presentations highlighted the main updates in the 2024/2025 edition, including alignment with the latest IVS international valuation standards, clearer definitions of valuation methods and models, and stricter requirements for governance, inspections, reporting, and model transparency.
The role of professional judgment, particularly when using automated tools or AI-assisted processes, was a central theme.
The integration of ESG criteria was also highlighted. Speakers explained how European regulations such as the EPBD, taxonomy, and CSRD are increasingly influencing valuation assumptions and requiring stronger documentation on climate, energy, and other non-financial factors.
The closing session focused on data accuracy and governance, showing how verified sustainability data now impacts financing terms, tenant demand, and asset positioning.
The discussions confirmed that regulation, ESG criteria, and data quality continue to reshape valuation practices across the market.
It is encouraging to see RICS organizing events that help valuers adapt to these evolving standards. We thank the entire RICS team for this initiative and PwC for hosting the conference in their magnificent building.
